Ashkiyoun Group

The Ashkiyoun brand is deeply rooted in a family legacy that spans three generations, immersed in the rich cultural and commercial realms of Persian carpets. For this family, carpets are more than mere decorations ─ they embody identity, memory, authenticity, and a timeless appreciation of beauty.

About Us

Ashkiyoun Group is a family-owned business with over 120 years of experience in the production and trade of Persian handwoven rugs, rooted in the legacy of the couple Simrokh and Nariman —the founders of a path that shaped Persian rug weaving on the foundations of art, identity, and generational continuity. This valuable heritage was passed down from one generation to the next until, after 1990, the arrival of the three Ashkiyoun brothers marked the beginning of a new era of transformation, innovation, and professional brand development in Persian rugs.

During this period, Mohammad Ashkiyoun , drawing on his deep expertise in rug design and artistic color composition, introduced innovative and distinctive ideas into the field of handwoven rugs and played a central role in shaping the brand’s contemporary visual language. Reza Ashkiyoun , with an academic background in management, took responsibility for rug production management , establishing a cohesive and efficient structure within the traditional rug-making process. Since 1997, Ali Ashkiyoun has focused on software-based rug design and digital color development , playing a key role in bridging technology with the art of rug weaving and executing the first digital designs of the Ashkiyoun collections. The result of this threefold collaboration was the formation of a brand that is today recognized as Persian in essence, with a contemporary design language.

Ashkiyoun’s works are presented in three distinct collections— Jafarnejad, Sahara, and Shahdad —each with an independent identity, reflecting a unique approach to design, material selection, and the philosophy of rug creation. Through a strong commitment to quality, continuous innovation, and respect for the artistic heritage of Persia , Ashkiyoun consistently strives to redefine the global position of Persian handwoven rugs.

01 | Material Preparation Process

The process of preparing and transforming natural raw materials into weaving fibers at Ashkiyoun follows the brand’s exclusive quality standards. It is rooted in the traditional knowledge of past generations, combined with specialized research and technical experience developed through years of experimentation in Ashkiyoun’s dedicated weaving workshops and laboratories.

Silk Preparation Process:

The preparation of silk at Ashkiyoun follows the brand’s exclusive organizational standards. Silkworm cocoons are carefully sourced from selected farms in the northern and northwestern regions of Iran. After being sorted by quality, they undergo several specialized stages — including boiling, drying, reeling, and twisting — to become fine fibers ready for weaving. Every stage of this process is carried out under the direct supervision of Ashkiyoun’s technical and artistic team, ensuring that the resulting fibers meet the collection’s signature standards of softness, strength, and brilliance.

Wool Preparation Process:

The wool is sheared from the gurdeh — the upper back area of young sheep, extending from the back of the neck to the mid-spine — at the end of spring, then sorted according to quality and color. The breed and origin of the sheep are also analyzed in later testing stages.

02 | Weaving Process

The weaving process at Ashkiyoun is where art and craftsmanship converge. In this stage, the design comes to life within the warp and weft, and the loom transforms into the artist’s canvas.

Every knot is tied by learned hands and an attentive mind — where patience, precision, and passion form the essence of creation.

Guided by detailed patterns and carefully balanced color maps, master weavers place thousands of knots with mathematical rhythm, bringing forth a living image that reflects the soul of the design. At Ashkiyoun, weaving is not merely a technical act — it is a ritual of devotion, continuity, and beauty.

Every stage of weaving is carried out under the close supervision of Ashkiyoun’s artistic and technical experts, ensuring the authenticity of the design, the structural harmony, and the uncompromising quality of each piece — for within every thread lies the signature of Ashkiyoun.

03 | Design & Idea

Just as the soul gives life to the body, in Ashkiyoun’s vision, art is the soul of the carpet. In the process of creation, an idea first blossoms in the artist’s mind, but it is within this stage that the concept evolves into a complete and executable design — like a live performance on an artistic stage.

At Ashkiyoun, the essence of handcrafted artistry remains alive. While modern digital tools are used in the design process, the creative journey always begins by hand — with ink and paper — where emotion and inspiration take their first tangible form. The design is then refined and developed digitally, merging craftsmanship with technology.

This harmony between hand-drawn artistry and modern innovation is what preserves the timeless artistic signature of Ashkiyoun. The process itself is a result of a cohesive and time-intensive collaboration — guided by Ashkiyoun’s artistic direction and the vision of its designers — a journey of faith and inspiration

that leads to the birth of a living design. Once complete, the finalized artwork is transferred to the production department for weaving preparation.

Design Process Steps:

• Idea & Dream

Where inspiration is born.

• Black Ink on Paper

Lines are drawn, erased, and redrawn — until the final concept emerges.

• Editing & Refinement

Refining, reviewing, and preparing the design for production

04 | Finishing Process

The finishing process is the final and most delicate stage in the creation of Ashkiyoun carpets. After months of meticulous knotting, the carpet is carefully removed from the loom and undergoes a series of precise steps — washing, trimming, surface leveling, and color fixation. The purpose of this stage is to reveal the true texture, enhance the brilliance of the colors, and achieve perfect visual harmony.

At Ashkiyoun, every carpet passes through multiple stages of quality control before leaving the workshop, ensuring uniformity, durability, and refined craftsmanship.

The finishing process represents the culmination of creation — where design, weave, and color reach complete harmony, and the true spirit of the carpet is finally revealed.

Ashkiyoun transcends the role of a fine rug creator ─ it is a storyteller that redefines the persian rug as a true art form, embodying both authenticity and enduring beauty
