Description

In Latent, the warp and weft are interwoven not merely with color, but with narrative. Here lies the intersection of two worlds: one, the realm of zebra-like camouflage stripes—or perhaps a ploughed land, ready for sowing—where seeds and sprouts lie hidden beneath the surface like shifting shadows; and the other, a geometric and classical world, where circular motifs lend a poetic order to the upper layer of the carpet. It tells the story of a day when the earth yields and the beauty of the fields unfolds like a dream. Movement in this work is subtle yet vital—like the silent passage of a herd of zebras across a plain. At times, the viewer’s gaze is lost in the neutral grey stripes; at others, the soft shimmer of silk conjures the image of a trembling wheat field. Elsewhere, the hidden beige among the threads recalls the soil upon which all these patterns are woven. Yet the true magic lies in the latency: the eye cannot fix its focus. The viewer, like a hunter unable to spot their prey, hovers between lines, layers, form, and void. This carpet is an expression of invisible presence—where beauty conceals itself in the evasion of clarity, in the play of light, time, and knot.
