Patterns of the Infinite

Description

Description

This is an intriguing and meditative design. The latticework highlighted in silk is almost calligraphic and has an air of circularity in its ‘movement’. This sense of repetition resonates in Sufism… According to one perspective, it is directly from the Qur’an, constantly recited, meditated, and experienced, that Sufism proceeded, in its origin and its development. The original meaning of Sufi seems to have been “one who wears wool (ṣūf)”, traditionally associated with ascetics and mystics. This is indeed a mystical carpet and a devotional work of art.
